The Message Console
Selenium MC is a web application, modelled on familiar email concepts, which allows users in your organisation to send and receive text messages. It's provided free of charge with Selenium SMS.
The Essentials
With its Inbox, Outbox and Send Messages pages, users can send and receive text messages. The Send Messages page allows a message to be sent to one or more destination phones, all in one go. And messages can include any character, be it plain ASCII or from a multi-byte character set such as Arabic. Furthermore, you're not restricted to sending messages with no more than say, 160 characters. Selenium MC allows "long messages" to be sent and automatically takes care of the technical details of handling such messages.
Access Control
The system requires users to log in before they can use it.... so you can control who has access to this valuable facility. The system administrator can set up user accounts and specify what individual parts of Selenium MC they have access to.
Controlling Costs with Message Quotas
Users will like Selenium MC and want to use it a lot! But since sending text messages will have a cost (charged by your SMS service provider), you may want to exercise control over how many messages each user can send each day. Selenium MC allows the system administrator to specify such a maximum for certain users and the time period that applies. This is called a quota. So for example, some users might be restricted to sending no more than 20 messages per day, whilst others will be allowed to send 50 every hour. Either way, you stay in control.
